How it works
Much Better Adventures partners with an international community of the very best local specialists in each destination: our hosts. A diverse and passionate collection of travel organisers who live and breathe the places they call home, each host is the ground organiser of all aspects of your trip, and your primary point of contact prior to and whilst on your adventure.
We co-curate all of our trips, combining the knowledge of the Much Better Adventures team (experts when it comes to our customers and what makes an epic adventure) with each host’s local insight, experience and operational know-how. The perfect combo!
By working directly with hosts, we cut out unnecessary middlemen. This ensures more of your money stays where it belongs – in the local communities you visit.
Once you book on to an adventure, you are put in touch with your host immediately. They will be at the centre of your experience: answering any questions before you travel, welcoming you on arrival, and hosting you on the trip.
Who is your booking with?
This means that your booking is with both Much Better Adventures and your host. When booking an adventure via the Much Better Adventures platform, we act as an agent to facilitate your direct booking with a supplier (the local host company). This gives you easy access to vetted local activity providers/travel organisers, but with all the protections of booking via a registered UK company. Customers have an Agency booking contract with MBA and a Supplier Booking Terms contract with the host, both of which are provided to you prior to booking, and accessible at all times thereafter.
Hosts are responsible for the entire delivery of your trip, i.e. the full package of services that make up the itinerary – such as accommodation, meals, transport, activities and guides.
How do we select our hosts?
We are very picky about who we partner with, and follow a careful selection process prior to curating any trips with new hosts. All of our host partners must demonstrate alignment with the Much Better Adventures values and operational expectations, and we always strive to cultivate long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
Potential hosts are assessed rigorously against criteria including: values, sustainability impact, experience, qualifications and safety, committing to high safety standards benchmarked against international best practice in adventure travel.
How do we support our hosts?
We treat our hosts as partners; working closely with them each day to support and empower their operations, provide feedback, and do all that we can to help their businesses to flourish. Each host has a dedicated manager within the Much Better Adventures Operations Team, who is only ever a phone call, email or text message away. In addition, all hosts have access to our custom-made booking platform for administration, chatting directly with customers, and browsing a library of guidance materials.
We provide our hosts with the required tools, information, resources and personalised support so that they can focus on what they do best: running outstanding adventures. We work particularly closely with new hosts prior to running their first trip with us, to provide a layer of consistency and undertake quality checks.
