What's been happening?
On Saturday 1st November 2025, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) changed its travel advice to “against all but essential travel to Tanzania” due to local protests and unrest following the general election on 29th October 2025. You can read the full advice here https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/tanzania. We follow the UK Government’s travel advice and our local hosts will not operate any trips to areas the FCDO advises against travel to.
We’ve been keeping a very close eye on the situation and are in ongoing contact with our local host partner in Tanzania, who is providing us with regular local updates.
What does that mean for me?
Our next trips to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro are not scheduled until December 2025, and we are hopeful that the travel advice will be changed by then, and our local host will be able to run the trips. However, you should exercise caution and ensure you are fully up to date on the situation and that you are able to source appropriate travel insurance at the time of booking.
What happens if my trip does get cancelled at short notice?
You will get a full refund of your MBA booking, or have the option to change dates or take credit to travel on a different adventure. Regardless of which option you choose we will provide you with a document to support you making a claim for flights with your travel insurance: so do ensure you have taken out cancellation cover straight away.
If anything changes, we will post further updates on this page. Our customer service team are also always here to help: you can contact them on hello@muchbetteradventures.com.
