Machu Picchu and Inca Trail permits - Why book early?
Book early with your Passport Details to secure Machu Picchu entrance and Inca Trail permits

Set high in the Andes, Machu Picchu is one of the world’s most iconic archaeological sites — and a must for anyone seeking a mix of adventure and history in a truly wild setting.
A Machu Picchu permit, issued by Peru’s Ministry of Culture, is included in your trip, but permits are limited and tend to sell out quickly.
Your local host will handle the booking of your Machu Picchu entrance and Inca Trail permits which are booked using your passport details, so please provide your full name, nationality, passport number and date of birth at the time of booking — or as early as possible.
Once issued, permits are non-refundable and non-transferable. You’ll need to travel with the same passport you booked with. If your passport changes after booking, just let your local host know and bring the original one with you for entry.
Machu Picchu permits opened in January and are selling fast.
Your hosts will aim to secure the best timed entry for your program, but these tend to sell out fast — especially for departures within two to three months. Late bookings may be split into smaller groups with a private guide if the first preference timing is unavailable. Permits for 2026 are already running low for April and May departures, so early booking is strongly recommended.
Adventures such as Hike, Cycle and Raft to Machu Picchu also include an Inca Trail permit. Only 500 are issued per day, including for guides, porters and cooks, so just 200–250 are available to travellers. A limited number so if you’re eyeing up this adventure, it’s worth booking early, as these permits tend to disappear fast.
