Machu Picchu entrance and KM104 Inca Trail permits expected to go on sale in early to mid-October 2026
Last Updated: 02 Sept 2026
Set high in the Andes, Machu Picchu is one of the world’s most iconic archaeological sites — and a must for anyone seeking a mix of adventure and history in a truly wild setting.
A Machu Picchu permit, issued by Peru’s Ministry of Culture, is included in your trip, but permits are limited and tend to sell out quickly.
Your local host will handle the booking of your Machu Picchu entrance and KM104 Inca Trail permits which are booked using your passport details, so please provide your full name, nationality, passport number and date of birth at the time of booking — or as early as possible.
Once issued, permits are non-refundable and non-transferable. You’ll need to travel with the same passport you booked with. If your passport changes after booking, just let your local host know and bring the original one with you for entry.
KM104 INCA PERMITS & MACHU PICCHU ENTRANCE
- Machu Picchu Entrance Tickets : There are three main circuits at Machu Picchu, which are divided into multiple routes. Entry tickets are released in limited numbers for specific circuits and hourly time slots throughout the day. Although thousands of visitors enter Machu Picchu daily, availability is spread across multiple circuits, routes and entry times, meaning individual ticket allocations can sell out very quickly. Each time slot will have a limited 150-250 tickets which will sell out within a couple of months of release.
- KM104 Inca Trail permits are released every October (approximately and can be subject to change) for the following year (approximately 200 spots for trekkers per day; the rest are reserved for porters and guides).
Can I change my circuit?
No, your ticket is booked for a specific circuit, a specific time and a specific date. See individual program for the circuit that will be booked for early bookers. Circuits often sell out months in advance. If they are no longer available when your permit is purchased, your host will secure the best available alternative, Because permit availability changes rapidly, we cannot guarantee a specific circuit, route or entry time.
Recommended booking times to secure your Permits:
- High season (May to September): 8 - 12 months in advance (May and June often sell out within hours of ticket release).
- Low season (November to April): 6 - 10 months in advance.
