How Trip Reviews Work
We publish every review we receive. This article answers your most likely questions about the process - so there's no mystery about what happens when you submit a review.
When and how will I be asked to leave a review?
We'll email you a review link one day after your trip, direct from our review platform. If you haven't left a review after three days, we'll send a friendly reminder. Your guide may also share the link to the trip review form on your WhatsApp group.
Will my review actually be published?
Yes! Every review submitted through our post-trip feedback form gets published - whatever the star rating.
The only exception is reviews that include:
- Profanities - swear words or similar
- Comments that name/target other travellers personally - feedback about the trip, guides, or company is fine; going after fellow group members isn't
- Discriminatory content - comments that put down others because of who they are
- Direct email addresses or phone numbers - yours or others!
If a review doesn't meet these standards, we'll reject the review and let you know why. You're welcome to then resubmit the review with the offending part removed.
Will I be identifiable from my review?
Your review is attached to the individual trip page with the month that you travelled. Your first name and the first initial of your last name will also be shown - nothing else. Your email address and any other account details are never shown.
Why should I leave a review?
Every review helps someone else decide whether this is the trip for them. Long before you booked, you were probably doing exactly the same thing - reading what past travellers said about the trip, the guide, the parts that were harder than expected, and the tips they had for future travellers! Now it's your turn to pay it forward.
We also read every single review (as do our local hosts), and we use them to keep improving - whether that means backing a brilliant guide, adjusting an itinerary, or fixing something that didn't go to plan. They inform real decisions on how we run trips, how we market them, and what we change.
Why can I not see my review immediately?
- 1, 2, and 3-star reviews go through a quick human check before publishing - not to suppress them, but so we can understand the feedback properly and if necessary, follow up with the customer or host directly.
- 4 and 5-star reviews publish automatically, as soon as they're submitted.
We aim to manually check 'held' reviews within days. If we haven't actioned it within 14 days of submission, it publishes automatically anyway - so a review will never sit unpublished indefinitely.
Can I edit my review after I've submitted it?
If you spot a typo or want to change something after submitting, we're not able to amend it on your behalf. The fix is: we reject the original review at your request and you resubmit an updated version, which then follows the same process above.
Can I be critical in my review?
Of course. However, we do ask customers to keep language respectful, even when the review is critical. Honest, specific, constructive feedback is genuinely more useful to us and to future travellers than a rant, and it's far more likely to sail through to the trip page without any hold-up. For context, over 97% of our adventurers rate their trip as 4 or 5* - but we want to hear from the other side of that too.
Can I upload photos and videos?
As part of your review, you'll have the chance to upload photos and videos. In uploading them, you're responsible for making sure anyone identifiable in your images is comfortable with them being shared online. We would like to assure you that anyone who appears in an uploaded photo can request that it be removed at any time.
Because photos can easily be uploaded by accident, and can involve everyone in your group - every photo is manually checked by our team before it appears - this can mean a short delay in the photos appearing on the trip page - even if your written review is published straight away.
Videos aren't currently shown on trip pages (though we're hoping that'll change soon) - but we do use them internally, so they are still helpful.
You can always opt out of your photos or videos being used for marketing in the review form itself.
Is my private feedback ever published?
When you submit a review, you'll also see optional private feedback question. This content is never published - it goes straight to us and the relevant host, so it's a good place to express anything you'd rather not put on a public review.
Will MBA respond to my review?
We try to respond to reviews publicly (on the trip page) wherever we can - it's useful for you and for future travellers to see our side and any improvements made. We won't always reach out to individuals directly about a review; we'll do that as and when we feel it's genuinely needed, rather than as standard practice.
Got a question about a specific review?
If you're ever unsure of anything, or you want to talk something through, you are always welcome to email our Customer Experience Team on support@muchbetteradventures.com.
