After 5 years and 15000+ skiers staying with our collection of independent chalet hosts, we have made the very difficult decision to withdraw ski chalets from general sale through our platform.

As you will know, Much Better Adventures started out on a mission to build a platform that makes it easy to book adventure and active holidays with the best local hosts. We wanted to support great local and independent businesses, funnel more money into local economies and inspire people to lead more adventurous, action packed lives.

We started out life by focussing on serving the market for independent ski chalets, and over the last few years have diversified to bring in a wide range of different adventures, from weekends, to expeditions. As our full vision now becomes reality, we’ve been watching the evolution of our community, and had to make this difficult decision.

This decision is driven primarily by the exciting growth we have seen in the last few years in the adventure side of the business. It has become clear that the needs of customers and hosts outside of the ski market are different, and we have been trying to balance the two for a few years. We no longer feel we are able to offer a good enough service to the ski market, and have therefore taken the decision to step back from it, rather than disappoint or offer any false promises.

What happens next?

From Monday 27th August, classic ski listings will no longer be viewable by customers, and as a result you will receive no further enquiries through the platform.

Your existing enquiries will remain open in your account for 30 days for you to message, quote and take bookings as normal. Users will also still be able to view your chalet listing from their enquiry when they login. 

On Weds 26th Sept, ski chalet listings and enquiries will be inaccessible to all users.

At that point, we will email you a record of all bookings that you have received from us. These records will include a full transcript, details of quotes provided, any customer payments made, payments due in future, and customer contact details so you can continue to communicate with them.

Please note, any customer payments due in future will need to be collected directly from the customer. We will provide this in the records we share with you, and also inform the customers. 

We will transfer any customer funds we have collected on your bookings up to then on the 5th October, as per usual payout terms. Commission will still be payable as normal on any bookings resulting from enquiries made before this date.

We will also email all customers who have a booking with you, and all customers with an open enquiry for next season, if the customer has been active in the last 30 days. We will email them details of their enquiry or booking with you, a chalet summary, your contact details, and instructions to continue to communicate direct with you, including making payments if necessary.

Can you still work with us?

Ski will of course still form a part of our wider adventure range, but with a focus instead primarily on ski touring experiences and winter adventures including snowshoeing, ice climbing, mountain survival and skills courses. We would also be delighted to look at working with you on summer adventure trips and weekend hiking/cycling packages. 

How we operate is a bit different however. We look for unique small group hosted experiences which can be offered to our community on an exclusive basis, with regular dates available throughout the season. If this sounds of interest, you can find out more and see our criteria here.  

We appreciate this won’t work for most of our traditional ski chalet partners, and will therefore be the end of the road for our partnership for now. For that we apologise, and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the years.
